We want to help you raise money for your organization in a fun easy way.
We offer a 100%-of-revenue to your fundraising opportunity. That means that you pay us nothing. You keep all of the income or profit – which is most of your sales.
How does it work? We provide to you at zero cost a DVD with our 6,423 songs, a list of names that have songs recorded and a temporary license to sell them at an agreed upon price for a limited amount of time.
What do you need to do? You will need to organize your group, give them a copy of the names available, collect the money and deliver the song to the purchaser.
Why a list of names? You can only sell the available names (6,423 and counting) because it is expensive and time consuming for us to record new names. You can take requests for new names that can be delivered should we record that name in the future.
How much should we charge? Remember that we give the song away for free on our site, so anyone can actually get the song for free once they get our name (which is at the end of every song). That said, other companies charge $10-20 or more for similar recordings. We suggest that you offer it for a bargain price and try to get volume. Remember that every single person has a name and a birthday so the potential market is pretty big. So $2 or $3 per name would be a fair and attractive price.
What does the student/salesperson do? They sell the product any way they can: by explaining it, singing it or demonstrating it. Some people carry a CD around to demo, others have it on an ipod and let people listen.
How do we deliver it? That is up to you. You can buy CD's at ten cents each from Sam's Club and record them and deliver them or you can get email addresses and send it as a mp3 (about 1megabyte/song). Or do it at a school activity like a ballgame or a PTA meeting.
Can we give it away? Yes, one effective sales technique has been to email the song with each person's name to eveyone on your lists and ask them to pay $2-3 if they like it. Who doesn't? and if they don't pay, well, it didn't cost you anything since you get it for free. Furthermore, it is okay to give it to anyone that has economic issues and can't afford to pay.
How much can we earn? Almost eveyone can sell 10 songs without much effort and high achievers can sell many times that. So at $3/song, you should exceed $30/person selling something useful, fat-free that is value priced and entertaining. Even people like me that don't want to sell things can meet this target.
Are there any restrictions? Yes. Time is restricted, you cannot alter the song or recording and you may not sell or advertise the songs online. That would compete with us and erode the value of our brand.
Why do you do this? We give the song away at our site and we just want to make it more popular. This is a win-win because you help us distribute the song and benefit your group/charity.
Are there other versions of the song? Can I get the classic Happy Birthday song? We only record one version of the song and that is our original version of the song. We do not have rights to record, or frankly any interest in recording a different version. We wrote our song, we had original music composed and we have it recorded by a professional singer in a studio in Hollywood with a sound engineer.
What do you get? At the end of the program, I need for you to return the original DVD and a count of how many songs were distributed. There is no charge but we like to have data.
